Finally figured out all the glitches of the RFID technology!!!

Long before the invention of film the Chinese developed a remarkable art form of moving images. Shadow puppets, made of pierced and embossed rawhide and manipulated with sticks behind an illuminated screen of transparent cloth, entertained both emperors and rural peasants. Accompanied by music, shadow theater brought good luck at weddings and offered welcome distraction at funerals.

Ongoing project

The project I'm working on is a video installation that based on Chinese folk art - Shadow play and a Chinese folk story. I collaborate on this project with Yunan, another graduate student of CADRE. We'd like to re-interpret the story by using different methods and techniques. The intentions are to explore the different interfaces of the database (videos, stories or cutting papers), let viewers themselves to create their own narratives. It's also an experiment to connect the traditional art practice to new media and technology.By connecting a rfid reader with computer, viewer can control the video's narrative by moving physical objects. I'm trying to figure out the software part now...Hopefully, we will make it.
